Prepares and files federal and state corporate income and/or non-income tax returns in a timely and accurate manner. Provides assistance on various special projects and compiles and prepares data of varying levels of complexity in response to auditor and/or government agency requests. Timely and accurate preparation of tax returns and related deferred tax analyses. Work as an effective team member on all tax compliance, accounting and audit matters. Support timely and accurate tax services to stakeholders. Prepare tax returns in an accurate and timely manner. Participate in the administration of tax allocation policies; coordinate settle-up of tax liabilities between affiliates. Complete complex tax-related accounting and/or audit activities for U.S. affiliates. Support advisory services to operational and line business areas regarding tax consequences of their activities. Work as an effective team member through communication and collaborating effectively on work streams and special projects. Assist in the review and analysis of tax strategies for U.S. affiliates; implement as appropriate. Provide guidance to newer or less experienced staff on tax laws and regulations.

Complete other responsibilities, as assigned. Complete all duties as outlined for fully qualified position. Provide computations of book-based financial accounting records to tax accounting standards to accommodate differences for both U.S. & U.K. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Assist with periodic validation of deferred tax balances, as appropriate. This position may be used to support non-income, federal, state and/or local tax departments as well as serve in an accounting, compliance and/or audit capacity. Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, related field or equivalent experience, CPA designation preferred
Minimum of five year proven tax compliance and/or accounting experience in an accounting firm, corporate tax department, or equivalent
Strong knowledge of tax accounting principles and financial institutions tax law

This position is a member of the Patient Accounts Department and will work in all areas.  Under general supervision, submits patient bills to the appropriated payers and performs effective follow-up on open accounts in a timely and accurate manner, reviews and reports status of billing, audits accounts as needed and respectfully works with patients or payers to resolve account issues.  Provides leadership and expertise within assigned payer classification to management regarding policies, procedures and/or productivity.

Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required.  Associates Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Accounting, Science or related field or a minimum of sixty credits towards a Baccalaureate Degree or equivalent combination of training and/or experience required.  Minimum of 1 year customer service experience required.  Administrative or call center experience preferred.  Must possess proficient computer skills.  Knowledge of the health care third party payer system is preferred.  Must pass CPAT exam after 1 year of employment.  Must be able to exercise independent judgment and take initiative in order resolve problems or issues on a timely basis.  Strong verbal and written communications skills, as well as ability to pay close attention to detail required.  Must be able to maintain confidential and privileged information.  Ability to respond quickly and professionally to frequent incoming customer inquiries.  Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

Senior Quantitative Analyst

Platts is currently recruiting for a Senior Quantitative Analyst who will be responsible for leading the development and production of the Platts Mark to Market curves. They will do the analysis and modeling required to maintain and enhance Platts industry leading M2M curves and will lead the team responsible for the daily production of the curves.
This individual will be part of a world-class team of quantitative analysts working in a challenging and rewarding environment dealing with some of the most interesting and difficult quantitative modeling challenges facing the energy industry today.
This person will also take a leadership role in the development of Platt’s M2M methodologies and will lead custom studies undertaken for customers.
Lead the development and production of the daily M2M curves. Work closely with Editors and other Platts teams to ensure timely and accurate production of the Platts M2M curves.
Apply quantitative analytical skills in the delivery of comprehensive studies required to test and enhance existing methodologies or for custom projects for clients. Deliver documentation showing the assumptions and methodologies of new analysis and quality control to maintain transparency in process as well as internal process documentation for others to use as reference. Collaborate with colleagues to define new methodologies which improve our products or result in the creation of new ones.
Provide domain knowledge leadership on one or more of the markets serviced by our M2M curves.
Participate in M2M application development life cycle by ensuring requirements and methodologies are documented according to the required standards. Be responsible for testing, accepting and signing off work delivered by technology teams.
Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to Quantitative Analyst team.

Qualifications

Advanced degree in a Mathematics or Engineering discipline or equivalent required. Strong analytic skills – both quantitative and qualitative. Need to understand data interaction and relationships as well as perform complex calculations on data for quality control or value-added analysis as necessary.
Have experience using modeling tools such as Mathlab to define, test and evaluate quantitative models.
Comfortable working in a complex information technology environment and able to communicate with development teams working with XML, SQL and C++
Have experience with the Microsoft office suite products to present findings to internal and external clients.
Able to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve problems quickly.
Detailed knowledge of the fundamentals of either the North American Natural Gas Power or Gas Markets.
Must possess organizational and time management skills and must be able to multi-task and be deadline oriented.
Experience using fundamental models (such as Aurora and GPCM).
